You don't need to notice the things I write
It's just that I developed a habit of letting go
words handcuffed in some corner of the heart
I stopped worrying about prison.

Who Am I?
My name is Jerusa Alves Furbino de Figueiredo, but I sign my writings as Jerusa Furbino, adopting my father's surname. I was born in Governador Valadares on April 25, 1980, a Friday, at exactly 6:30 p.m., during happy hour. This date and time mark the beginning of a unique journey.
From an early age, I was drawn to words. As a child, I discovered that I was a poet, expressing my feelings and thoughts through writing. Around the age of 18, society's call for a stable career led me to study Law. I moved to Belo Horizonte to follow this path and be with my future husband.
During college, I found refuge and inspiration in singing, participating in the Fumec Choir. Music became my mentor, helping me face the challenges of law and find balance.
Married for 19 years and mother of two children, my life was divided between family responsibilities, law practice and studying for public exams. During these years, writing remained dormant, emerging occasionally, but never fully realized. Successive failures in public exams and the stressful routine began to take their toll.
From my 30s to my 40s, I faced two major depressions, an internal battle that nearly defeated me. It was during the 2020 pandemic that I made the bravest decision of my life: to abandon law and marriage, and follow my true calling - writing.
Publishing my first book, Rabiscos, was a moment of rebirth. The initial success and acceptance gave me the strength to continue. My second book, Luto - Um Passeio da Poesia Entre o Substantivo e o Verbo, came with the support of the Aldir Blanc Law, solidifying my journey as a writer. I then published Catarse Literária and Inimigo Oculto, each work bringing a new layer of personal and professional fulfillment.
I didn't stop at writing. I became one of the founders of Assanharau, the only erotic gathering in Belo Horizonte, which began its activities in January 2023 and I hosted it until June 2024. In the spiritual field, with more than 20 years of practice in Reiki, healing passes and psychography mediumship, I created the MAOS method - Active Orgasmic Sensory Meditation, helping people to know themselves better and break taboos.
Today, I am a multifaceted woman. Writer, composer, singer, mother, housewife, and so many others inside me, I consider myself an eternal learner! My life is a continuous dance between studies, creation and the search for personal and professional fulfillment.
I still find time to date and be happy, because life is movement and I definitely can't stand still. With each step of my journey, I learn, grow and transform my experiences into words, music and teachings that I share with the world.
Fun facts about me:

Fun facts about me:
My favorite food is popcorn. When I came to Belo Horizonte to study for college entrance exams, I lived with a great-aunt and her daughter. Every day when I got home from college, I would eat a bowl of popcorn. My cousin, Maria Zélia, nicknamed me Jerusa Pipoquinha. To this day, I eat popcorn for dinner at least twice a week!
When I was 17, I heard on a sound truck that was driving through the streets of Valadares that there would be a Neurotics Anonymous meeting in the auditorium of the city's Law School. I thought it was interesting and went to the meeting. After hearing the stories of the people who were there, I realized that I wasn't neurotic enough and went home thinking I was normal. Years later, studying psychoanalysis and psychology on my own, I discovered that normal people are all neurotic, because the opposite of that would be psychosis. So, I finally reclassified myself as neurotic! Life, in its concepts, boxes and forms, always teaches us in some way.
Another interesting fact is about my taste for Japanese food. Initially, I didn't like it, but when I returned to Governador Valadares, during the period in which I was a lay judge at the TJMG, two friends of mine, true enthusiasts of this cuisine, convinced me to give it a chance. They encouraged me so much that I couldn't resist and today, Japanese food is the third food I like most, behind only popcorn and Arabic food, of which I have even become an expert! Everyone loves the eggplant that I make!
